Transfusion

Last week, Christian Medical Fellowship (CMF) on the Glasgow Uni campus hosted an outreach week, called "Transfusion".
Our team helped with the training of this before hand; outreach during the week; and we're doing the follow-up from the outreach this week.

Last night, Mike and I showed up for our second meeting with the group who wanted to know more about who God is. We had prepared to continue teaching, and have conversations about the curriculum. One guy showed up. Which, before you begin feeling pity for us, was a great thing.

We met in quiet nook of a pub called The Loft. "Bob" had many questions about God. He told us that he had always struggled with the issue of why or how God allowed suffering in this world. How could God be good or just if He allowed people to suffer? Bob told us that until Transfusion week, when he heard about Christ'ss acrifice on the cross, this concept had not made sense to him.

After he attended one of the many talks going on throughout the week, he told us that he was better able to handle or understand suffering, because God had sacrificed His own Son for the world. He told us he had looked into Islam, in which, he said, Jesus was "“sort of swapped out". That didn'’t solve the issue of suffering for him. Hearing that God had sacrificed His own Son, made the issue of suffering more palatable for him.

Conversations like this one are just cool, and made my week.
