We ended a good run of being bat-free last night. According to The Bat Conservation Trust, there are "17 species of bat in the UK, all of which are protected by law because their numbers have decreased so dramatically".
This means we must employ a "catch and release" policy when we find them in our home.

Apparently, in Britain it is illegal to disturb bats or the places where they roost. How 'bout disturbing human females and the places they roost?? Explaining this to the bats does not work, either.
Apart from fighting bat-crime, I've been writing papers for the course, and continuing my duties of hosting and group leading for the mini-school in residence this week.
Today is absolutely gorgeous out, and a balmy 71, which, for these parts, is quite warm. All of us who are solar-powered are happy and basking in the warmth (unless we're indoors writing papers and posting to our blogs)!
